Mindego Ridge Vineyard 2023

The 2023 Mindego Ridge Pinot Noir beautifully captures the essence of this cool, maritime-influenced vineyard nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains. A wet winter and cool spring led to a longer, more moderate growing season, allowing for slow ripening and the development of deep complexity and balance. Planted in 2009 to a selection of Dijon clones, Mindego Ridge thrives at nearly 1,000 feet in elevation, benefiting from its fractured shale soils and proximity to the Pacific Ocean.

This wine presents a radiant medium ruby red hue with a delicate pinkish rim. The nose is expressive, with aromas of pomegranate, dark cherry, and cranberry, layered with dried leaves, cocoa, fennel, and savory spices. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with vibrant flavors of rhubarb, cranberry, and Bing cherry, complemented by earthy nuances of leather, crushed rock, anise, and black tea. The finish is refined, balancing bright fruit with rich depth.

Aged for 11 months in French oak barriques, this Pinot Noir is a true expression of its unique terroir, offering elegance and complexity with every sip.
