The 2023 Drum Canyon Vineyard Pinot Noir is a remarkable expression of the Sta. Rita Hills, shaped by one of the coolest growing seasons in recent years. A wet winter followed by a cool spring delayed bud break, setting the vineyard nearly four weeks behind a typical year. This extended, mild growing season allowed for deep complexity and balance, producing a wine of elegance and depth.
This medium ruby red wine with a delicate light pink rim presents fresh aromas of dark cherry and strawberry, intertwined with floral rose, anise, and a subtle touch of mesquite. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with vibrant red currant and cranberry flavors, complemented by earthy nuances of tarragon, leather, and mushroom. The finish is refined and lingering, with a harmonious balance of fruit and savory complexity, making this wine an engaging and layered experience.
Sourced from the steep hillsides of Drum Canyon Vineyard, this Pinot Noir is aged for 11 months in French oak (25% new), capturing the true essence of this unique terroir.
